Olamina Global Artist Residency in Taos, New Mexico
The Olamina Global Residency is an international artist residency, multi media art studio, healing arts space and education center supporting social artists, activists, cultural workers and their community allies. The Residency opens it’s application each winter for Spring residencies and each summer for Fall residency. Up to 12 residents are selected each season to spend between 1-3 weeks or 1-3 month at Olamina. Residents are selected by a group of advisors, and members of Earthseed Black Arts Alliance based on merit, need, and program goals. Priority is given to people of the global majority, under-served communities, and BIPOC and Indigenous artists. The residency is a low to no-cost program based on an anti-racial capitalist model that prioritizes mutual exchange in lieu of cash based transaction. As such, residency fees/exchange are determined by each individual upon admission. Cross cultural dialogue and inter-community relationships are central to the residency time, as well as time and space for rest, vision and re-centering. There is no requirement to produce or present work as a part of the residency, however, materials and studio space are provided for all residents to explore and enjoy during their time. Opportunities for exhibition, performance, presentation, and community engagement are also available to residents as desired. To apply for the next cohort, please click here
